Part of a larger picture but I have other things to work on so I wanted to upload this now and hold off on working on the rest of the picture until a later date. Also, it makes a really nice av for forums. I really like how the colors turned out.

Anyway this is fanart for the comic DMFA... sorta. It's not actually any character from the comic but a fan-character of one of the races in the comic. Hence the furriness and the lil' head-wings <3

I love DMFA. The art style, the ideas, the concepts... everything. The author has this ability to get people to constantly want more information about characters, settings, history, and species in the comic, despite providing considerable background as it is. Part of the reason I like this comic is that she creates this world where you feel like a lot is going on outside the focus of the main characters. Sort of why a lot of people like Star Wars and feel the need to create fan-Jedi.

I think purple/indigo is inadvertently becoming one of my favorite colors to use now for whatever reason.

The way you shade hair is still way awesome.
You manage to get in small, detailed strands without overdoing it - the rest is shaded in large chunks but still looks like hair rather than some plastic dome.

Really neat character/race, I dig the head-wings. ;)

Haha thanks, I was second guessing myself on the hair a little here too - I almost never do highlights in hair now because I feel like when I try it just looks fake, but without them I'm not really sure if the hair actually looks enough like hair.

The headwings were my favorite part to do for sure =) Part of the fun with this was that in the comic 'cubi tend to have more unnatural colors (like pinks, blues, greens etc. as opposed to browns, creams or greys) so it was fun to force myself to go a little nuts with the colors.

Thanks for the feedback, as always :D

ah... a WIP. I was wondering why the cel shading was AA'd so well. but the lines weren't.

Thanks~ Yeah, the lines really need some work, especially by the wings.
